COMPUTER GUIDED SURGERY
TECHNOLOGY: A MAJOR ALLY
B&B Dental has distinguished itself thanks to the development of new techniques designed to improve the health of its patients by simplifying the surgical procedures performed by the operators. Digital technologies have made their way into the dental industry with techniques designed to help improve precision, reduce the possibility of errors, and, above all, limit pain and complications for patients. Guided surgery is a protocol that allows a patient’s anatomy to be digitally evaluated in order to create a platform that will guide the surgical instruments to the specific point where the implants are to be placed. The result is a faster procedure with less tissue damage. The high degree of precision and planning offered by this technique even allows for the overlying dental prosthesis to be prepared in advance, so that it can be applied directly after the implants are placed.
In short, digitally guided surgery allows for more accurate diagnoses, which in turn lead to more specific treatment plans, and faster and more accurate procedures, with minimal patient discomfort.
The use of this technique requires a digital version of the anatomical data to be recorded. For this purpose, a 3D CBCT (or CT) scan will be performed, and an impression (digital or traditional) will be taken, in order to provide the dentist with the parameters necessary for the construction of the surgical guide. However, this surgical technique cannot be used on all patients, as the procedure requires the space necessary for the insertion the aforementioned surgical guide, especially in cases where fewer teeth are missing. It is therefore important to evaluate the spaces present and the overall dimensions. Ask your dentist about the possibility of performing your procedure using the guided surgery technique, and start smiling again right away.
